Spring is welcomed with TOMMA INTET’s tenth anniversary at Nalen
Ten years on, TOMMA INTET continue to develop their expansive dream rock sound. This spring, the band release their fifth album, IDIOTERNA, and celebrate their tenth anniversary. On Friday 30 April they will play at Nalen in Stockholm with Samling as support.
Over the past ten years, TOMMA INTET have developed an instantly recognisable sound and a world of their own, where beauty and discomfort are constantly allowed to exist side by side. Musically, the band continue to develop their expansive dream rock, where shimmering guitars, choirs and grand arrangements meet everyday stories and existential questions.
With IDIOTERNA, TOMMA INTET take a deep dive into the Swedish welfare state and Swedish melancholy. Across ten songs, the band attempt to make sense of the present through the past, searching for some form of hope for the future.
Here are algorithms and screens that suck the soul out through our eye sockets. Rotting brains dreaming of solitude in the forest, far from tech bros and the digital Satan. Suburban anxiety, longing, resentment and a desire to feel alive.
In a society where polarisation is growing, perhaps the question is no longer who the idiots are. We are the idiots. You are the idiots. They are the idiots. And somewhere in all of this lies the desire to be a happy idiot, which perhaps isn’t so idiotic after all.
Following HISINGEN TAXI RIDER, which received four fyrar from Göteborgs-Posten and four out of five stars from Di Weekend, TOMMA INTET continue to follow their own path. IDIOTERNA was written by Magnus Petersson and produced by Johan Holm at Lyckholmia/Studio Påtår. The album will be released on 2 April 2027 via Welfare Sounds & Records.
On 30 April TOMMA INTET come to Nalen in Stockholm with their new album and Samling as support. An evening in Stora Salen where expansive dream rock and grand arrangements accompany the band’s tenth anniversary celebrations and the arrival of spring.
Samling (support)
With a mix of pop, rock and Swedish neo-psychedelia, Samling have established themselves on the Scandinavian music scene since the band was formed by songwriter and singer Max Groundstroem in 2009. Their music is characterised by strong melodies, groove and hooks, often using humour to explore feelings of loneliness and social exclusion.
With their critically acclaimed debut album När Mullret Dövar Oss Blir Vi Rädda in 2011, which received a Swedish Grammy nomination, grand melodies had already become one of Samling’s defining characteristics. On the follow-up, Annanstans, the band worked with producer Jari Haapalainen (Johnossi, Ed Harcourt), and later collaborated with Eva Dahlgren on the single Natten.
